R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Bubba Fife, a retired coach and assistant athletic |
|
director in the Katy Independent School District, was recognized |
|
with the Be Great Award by the GoBeGreat Foundation on April 15, |
|
2021; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Be Great Award celebrates individuals who have |
|
overcome adversity and who have shared their talents and gifts to |
|
make a difference in the lives of others; those associated with the |
|
nonprofit GoBeGreat Foundation group have contributed their time |
|
and resources to a variety of charitable causes all over the |
|
country; and |
|
WHEREAS, Bubba Fife first began coaching for the Irving |
|
Independent School District in 1964; he was hired as the head |
|
football coach and athletic coordinator for James E. Taylor High |
|
School in 1987, marking the start of his long and highly successful |
|
affiliation with Katy ISD; he remained there for 12 years, before |
|
taking on a new position as the assistant director of athletics for |
|
Katy High School; his retirement in 2009 capped an impressive |
|
career that spanned 45 years, including 35 years as a coach; and |
|
WHEREAS, Coach Fife was inducted into the Texas High School |
|
Athletic Directors Association Hall of Honor in 2009; he was also |
|
recognized with the Distinguished Service Award from the Greater |
|
Houston Football Association that same year, and in 2020 he earned a |
|
place in the Katy ISD Athletic Hall of Honor; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through his outstanding commitment to his |
|
profession, Bubba Fife has had a positive influence on countless |
|
young athletes, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his receipt |
|
of this well-deserved accolade; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Bubba Fife on his receipt of the Be |
|
Great Award by the GoBeGreat Foundation and extend to him sincere |
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Coach Fife as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
