R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their |
|
memories of Julian Mark Bott of Houston, who died on January 3, |
|
2021, at the age of 57; and |
|
WHEREAS, Julian Bott was born in Cambridge, England, on |
|
January 23, 1963, to loving parents Ronald and Gillian Bott; he grew |
|
up with the companionship of a sister, Kate, and received his early |
|
education at Millfield School in Somerset; a champion swimmer from |
|
an early age, he represented Her Majesty as the Captain of the |
|
English Swim Team and competed in many European countries; he went |
|
on to attend Harvard College, where he was captain of the swim team |
|
and qualified for the 1980 Olympics; and |
|
WHEREAS, After earning his bachelor's degree in economics |
|
from Harvard in 1984, Mr. Bott entered the executive training |
|
program of Bankers Trust in New York; he eventually settled in |
|
Houston, where he embarked upon a successful career in oil and gas |
|
commercial banking while earning his master's degree in business |
|
administration at Rice University; it was in Houston that he also |
|
met his wife, Cecile, whom he wed on January 2, 1988, and the couple |
|
became the proud parents of two amazing sons, Ian and James; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Bott subsequently joined TD Securities, and his |
|
career took him to Westport, Connecticut, for a time and then back |
|
home to Britain, where he and his family lived for many years in |
|
London; in 2009, he became the chief financial officer of Texas |
|
American Resources Company in Austin, and three years later, he was |
|
appointed to the board of EQT Midstream Partners; in 2015, he joined |
|
Sandridge Energy in Oklahoma City as executive vice president and |
|
CFO; he then returned to Houston, where at the time of his passing |
|
he was serving as executive vice president and CFO of Southwestern |
|
Energy; and |
|
WHEREAS, A dynamic professional and devoted son, brother, and |
|
father, Julian Bott was taken much too soon, but the memory of his |
|
ambition, his keen intellect, and his bright and generous spirit |
|
will remain to comfort all those who knew and loved him; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Julian Mark Bott and |
|
extend heartfelt sympathy to his relatives and many friends; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Julian |
|
Bott. |
