R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Roosevelt Nivens II has been named |
|
|
superintendent of the Lamar Consolidated Independent School |
|
|
District; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An educator with 24 years of experience, Dr. Nivens |
|
|
began his career as a teacher in the Dallas Independent School |
|
|
District, and he later joined Lancaster ISD, where he served as |
|
|
assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent of |
|
|
achievement and organizational management; in 2015, he became |
|
|
superintendent of Community ISD, and under his leadership, the |
|
|
district earned an A rating from the Texas Education Agency and |
|
|
increased the number of students earning college credits through |
|
|
Advanced Placement Exams and dual credit classes, with 10 percent |
|
|
of students earning an associate's degree upon graduation; he also |
|
|
expanded the district's career and technical education programs and |
|
|
professional certifications; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Nivens holds a bachelor of science degree from |
|
|
Liberty University and master's and doctoral degrees in education |
|
|
from Texas A&M University-Commerce; in all his endeavors, he enjoys |
|
|
the love and support of his wife, Karla; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Throughout his career as an educator, Roosevelt |
|
|
Nivens has upheld the highest standards of his profession, and he is |
|
|
sure to bring to his new position equal commitment and energy; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Roosevelt Nivens II on his |
|
|
selection as superintendent of the Lamar Consolidated Independent |
|
|
School District and extend to him sincere best wishes for a |
|
|
successful tenure; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Dr. Nivens as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
