R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Courtney McGuire of Stephenville has attained the |
|
Girl Scout Gold Award, and this accomplishment truly merits |
|
recognition; and |
|
WHEREAS, To earn this distinction, Ms. McGuire successfully |
|
met a series of requirements emphasizing community service, |
|
personal and spiritual growth, positive values, and leadership |
|
skills; as part of that process, she planned and implemented a Girl |
|
Scout Gold Award project entitled Project Melting Pot, in which she |
|
captured and edited a 21-minute documentary focused on shifting the |
|
narrative surrounding immigration in the United States using |
|
personal accounts of four immigrants living in Erath County; and |
|
WHEREAS, By fostering self-confidence and by encouraging |
|
young women to explore career opportunities and to become more |
|
socially conscious, the Girl Scout program is helping its |
|
participants to achieve their greatest potential as engaged |
|
citizens and leaders; and |
|
WHEREAS, The maturity and dedication that Ms. McGuire has |
|
demonstrated in pursuit of her goals truly exemplify the highest |
|
ideals of the Girl Scouts, and she may indeed reflect with pride on |
|
a job well done; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Courtney McGuire on her receipt of |
|
the Girl Scout Gold Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. McGuire as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
