R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The COVID-19 global pandemic has required health |
|
care professionals to confront extraordinary, evolving, and |
|
historic challenges, and the physicians, nurses, allied health care |
|
staff, support staff, and administration of Northwest Texas |
|
Healthcare System have, together as a professional health care |
|
team, heroically stood on the front lines in the war against this |
|
contagious and deadly virus, and they have resolutely persevered in |
|
the face of tremendous adversity wrought by the unseen enemy; and |
|
WHEREAS, At the outset of the pandemic, hospitals throughout |
|
Texas, including Northwest Texas Healthcare System, intently |
|
focused on many matters, including preparedness measures, |
|
infection control protocols and screenings, personal protective |
|
equipment, and the coordination of response efforts with nearby |
|
hospitals; and |
|
WHEREAS, The unwavering collective resolve and fortitude |
|
demonstrated by the staff of Northwest Texas Healthcare System is |
|
the latest chapter in its history of caring for its patients and the |
|
community; established in 1924, Northwest Texas Healthcare System |
|
is an acute care facility and medical center nationally known for |
|
its heart, emergency, stroke, and pediatric services; an advanced |
|
level III trauma facility, the emergency department has expanded to |
|
include freestanding locations; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although COVID-19 put a tremendous strain on |
|
hospitals across the country, the professional team of Northwest |
|
Texas Healthcare System worked together to provide medical care to |
|
patients and to the community-at-large under extremely physically |
|
and mentally exhausting circumstances; and |
|
WHEREAS, In resolutely facing, adapting to, and overcoming |
|
the ever-evolving and unprecedented health care circumstances |
|
thrust upon them, all associated with the hospital are indeed |
|
deserving of recognition for their tireless heroic work on the |
|
front lines in the war against COVID-19; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend the physicians, nurses, and all |
|
frontline personnel as well as the support staff and administration |
|
of Northwest Texas Healthcare System for their outstanding, noble, |
|
and heroic service to the people of Amarillo, the greater Texas |
|
Panhandle, and the Tri-State region of Texas, Oklahoma, and New |
|
Mexico; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the staff of Northwest Texas Healthcare System as an |
|
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
