R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their |
|
memories of George Eric Cassity of Las Vegas, Nevada, who passed |
|
away on September 6, 2020, at the age of 71; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Ardmore, Oklahoma, on April 23, 1949, George |
|
Cassity was the son of June and Martin Cassity; he enlisted in the |
|
United States Marine Corps and completed two tours of duty in |
|
Vietnam; after four years of service to his country, he was |
|
honorably discharged at the rank of lance corporal; and |
|
WHEREAS, Following his time in the military, Mr. Cassity made |
|
his home in North Texas from the 1970s until the mid-1990s, during |
|
which time he was employed as a credit manager and a truck driver; |
|
in his later years, he contributed to several nonprofits, including |
|
Catholic Charities, through his work as an accountant; he was a |
|
gifted artist as well, and his work was included in a number of art |
|
exhibitions; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Cassity was blessed with a treasured daughter, |
|
Kate; he also enjoyed the companionship of his beloved cat, Zeppy; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Although George Cassity is deeply missed, he will |
|
always hold a special place in the hearts of those who held him |
|
dear; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of George Eric Cassity |
|
and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his |
|
daughter, Kate Cassity-Costa, and her husband, Jerod; to his |
|
brothers, Martin, Edward, and William Cassity; and to his other |
|
relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of George |
|
Cassity. |
