Vivian Louise Homesley Wood |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
|
commemorates the life of Vivian Louise Homesley Wood, an esteemed |
|
|
resident of the Georgetown community, who died April 14, 2021, at |
|
|
the age of 77; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A lifelong Texan, Vivian Homesley was born in San |
|
|
Saba on June 12, 1943; she grew up in Llano, and she graduated |
|
|
from Llano High School in 1961; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Vivian married Leo Wood in San Saba on August 12, |
|
|
1961, and they later moved to Georgetown; they were blessed with |
|
|
three sons, Eric, Owen, and John, and their two grandchildren and |
|
|
great-granddaughter enriched her life immeasurably; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A dedicated public servant, Mrs. Wood enjoyed a |
|
|
17-year career with the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, and she |
|
|
served as the chamber's executive director for many years; she |
|
|
went on to work at the Texas Private Industry Council, and in |
|
|
1994, she was elected Williamson County treasurer, a position she |
|
|
held for 20 years; she served in leadership roles for the County |
|
|
Treasurers' Association of Texas, and in 2004, she was named the |
|
|
Texas Outstanding County Treasurer; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Admired for her kindness, her love for family and |
|
|
friends, and her firmly grounded spirit, Vivian Wood was a |
|
|
beloved member of the community; she leaves behind memories that |
|
|
will long be cherished by all who were privileged to share in her |
|
|
life; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family of Vivian Louise Homesley Wood; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of Vivian Wood. |
