SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 571
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Daniel San Miguel
 
         WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Daniel
  A. San Miguel, who passed away on April 28, 2021, at the age of
  64; and
 
         WHEREAS, The son of Isabel "Belle" Aguilar and Daniel San
  Miguel Jr., Dan San Miguel was born on May 25, 1956; he grew up
  with the companionship of his older sister, Leticia, and three
  younger siblings, Annabelle, Rosanne, and Roland, as well as four
  first cousins, Gloria, Robert, Sylvia, and Cynthia, who lived
  nearby; they all attended the same schools and church and
  participated in the same activities; in addition, he was blessed
  with the affection of his grandparents, Roy and Lupita Aguilar
  and Daniel and Velia San Miguel, and his maternal aunts and
  uncles, especially World War II veteran Nicolas Estrada; and
 
         WHEREAS, Mr. San Miguel excelled in baseball, football,
  and track during his youth, and he worked as the delivery boy for
  the family drugstore, La Botica Guadalupana, located in what is
  now Market Square, where he benefited from the kind guidance of
  his paternal uncle, Robert, who managed the store; after
  graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School, he followed in his
  father's footsteps, enlisting in the U.S. Army, and he later
  embarked on a career in auto sales; and
 
         WHEREAS, Mr. San Miguel was joined in marriage with the
  former Amada Montalvo, and they became the proud parents of
  twins, Adriana and Daniel; the couple shared a rewarding
  relationship until Amada's untimely passing; on dark days and in
  moments of sorrow, Mr. San Miguel was supported by the love and
  encouragement of his large extended family, including his aunt,
  Mary Lou, and his stepmother, Barbara San Miguel; in turn, he was
  frequently the first to comfort others who suffered a loss; he
  was very devoted to his mother, and he took enormous delight in
  every family celebration; to his adoring nieces and nephews and
  their children, he was "Uncle Buddy"; later in life, he was
  overjoyed to learn that he had another daughter, Angela, whom he
  met for the first time in her teen years; and
 
         WHEREAS, Although Dan San Miguel is deeply missed by those
  he left behind, they will treasure their memories of his ready
  smile, his profound compassion, and his tremendous dedication to
  his loved ones; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
  Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Daniel A. San
  Miguel and extend sincere condolences to the members of his
  family:  to his mother, Isabel Aguilar; to his stepfather, Juan
  Ortiz; to his stepmother, Barbara San Miguel; to his children,
  Adriana San Miguel, Daniel San Miguel, and Angela Alcantara and
  to his grandchildren; to his siblings, Leticia Van de Putte and
  her husband, Pete, Annabelle Garcia and her husband, Orlando,
  Rosanne Valenzuela and her husband, John, and Roland San Miguel
  and his wife, Cindy; to his many nieces and nephews and their
  spouses and children; and to his other relatives and friends;
  and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
  this day, it do so in memory of Dan San Miguel.
