IN RE:
HB228 by Murr (Relating to the use of an electronic recording device to report proceedings before certain courts; authorizing fees.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would allow a county commissioners court to exempt courts in the county from the requirement that an official court reporter be appointed to record the proceedings of the court and instead allow the use of an electronic device in lieu of a court reporter.
Based on information provided by the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated as a result from implementing the provisions of the bill.
Local Government Impact
The bill may result in savings to counties from the cost of services of an official court reporter, but no significant fiscal impact to local governments is anticipated.
