LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 13, 2021

TO:
Honorable Ken King, Chair, House Committee on Culture, Recreation & Tourism

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB559 by White (Relating to a fishing license fee waiver for certain residents.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Parks and Wildlife Code to require the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) to waive the fee on a fishing license for a resident who is 85 years old or older. This bill would be effective September 1, 2021.

Based on the analysis of the TPWD and the Comptroller of Public Accounts, it is assumed that implementation of the bill would result in an insignificant loss of revenue to the state and that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
