HB740 by Fierro (Relating to preferential voting in runoff elections for certain voters voting by mail.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

This bill would amend the Election Code to require early voting clerks to send a runoff ballot to certain voters in certain elections.  The bill would direct the Secretary of State (SOS) to prescribe certain preferential voting procedures in these elections.

According to the SOS, no significant fiscal impact to the state is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

According to Cameron County, the county is unable to determine the total fiscal impact of the bill; however, it could cost at least $15,000 per election for processing and storage of additional ballots.
 
According to Williamson County, the fiscal impact to the county would be over $10,000 per election.
