IN RE:
HB1291 by Bell, Keith (Relating to notice of the right to object to participation in an abortion procedure for health care personnel of a hospital or health care facility.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Occupations Code Chapter 103 to require a hospital or health care facility at which abortions are performed to post a sign in a location easily visible to employees of the hospital or facility who may perform or participate in an abortion procedure regarding their right to object. The sign would be required to meet certain specifications outlined in the bill.
The Health and Human Services Commission and the University of Texas indicate any cost to implement provisions of the bill would be minimal and could be absorbed within available resources.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
