No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Election Code to require that, beginning September 1, 2021, all software used in a voting system for use in an election in this state be developed and operated entirely within the United States and sold by a company headquartered in the United States and all hardware used in the voting systems, if manufactured outside the United States, be delivered without any embedded software installed. 

According to the Secretary of State, no significant fiscal impact to the State is anticipated. 

Local Government Impact

According to the Williamson County Election Administrator, the bill's provisions would have no significant fiscal impact on the county. The impact to other units of local government cannot be determined at this time due to an absence of responses.
