No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would add Chapter 3107 to the Government Code to authorize the Preservation Board to establish a Texas Police Service Animals Memorial Monument. Any monies contributed to the state for this purpose would be deposited in Fund 0879 - Capitol Local Trust Fund to the credit of a separate interest-bearing account established for that monument. According to the Commission on Law Enforcement, the monument is expected to cost $50,000 and would be funded with gifts, grants, and donations. The Preservation Board indicates that the costs to implement the provisions of the bill could be absorbed with existing resources.
The legislation would do one or more of the following: create or recreate a dedicated account in the General Revenue Fund, create or recreate a special or trust fund either within or outside of the treasury, or create a dedicated revenue source. The fund, account, or revenue dedication included in this bill would be subject to funds consolidation review by the current Legislature.
