The bill's provisions would require the commissioner of education to establish a task force to study the utility, efficacy, and feasibility of incorporating fine arts into the foundation curriculum. The task force would be required to provide a written report of findings.

Methodology

TEA estimates task force costs of $23,040 for members travel reimbursements and $8,100 for meeting room rental, supplies, copies, and materials for a total of $31,140 in FY 2022. TEA estimates a contract with an external entity to assist the task force with the required research and evaluation would cost an additional $200,000 in FY 2022.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
