The bill would amend Section 681.011 of the Transportation Code to increase fines for the illegal use of a parking space designated for persons with disabilities. The bill would amend Chapter 45, Code of Criminal Procedure, to establish procedures for a justice court or municipal court to dismiss a charge for an offense defined by Section 681.011, Transportation Code, if a person successfully completes a disabled parking course approved by the political subdivision in which the alleged offense occurred. The bill would authorize the court to require the defendant pay an administrative fee of not more than $10 to cover the court's costs of administering the provisions of the bill.
Based on the analysis of the Department of Motor Vehicles and the Office of Court Administration, it is assumed implementation of the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant fiscal impact to the State.
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
