No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Election Code as it relates to signature verification on an early voting ballot voted by mail to require the signature verification committee and the early voting ballot board to utilize any voter registration signature obtained through Department of Public Safety applications in the signature comparison process.
Based on information provided by the Secretary of State and the Department of Public Safety, no significant fiscal impact to the State is anticipated.
Local Government Impact
The Cameron County Election Administrator expects no significant fiscal impact to the county. The Election Administrators for Ellis, El Paso and Aransas counties report fiscal impacts of $16,000, $1,000 to $2,000, and $10,000 to $15,000, respectively, all for equipment purchases.
