The bill would amend Human Resources Code to require the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to conduct an efficiency audit beginning during the fiscal year ending August 31, 2022 and every four years thereafter.
The bill would require DFPS to bear the cost of the efficiency audit using money appropriated for administrative and internal audit operations in the state fiscal year the audit is conducted and select an external auditor who would submit a report no later than November 1 of the calendar year an efficiency audit is conducted.
Based on information provided by DFPS, this analysis assumes there would be minimal costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill that could be absorbed within current resources.
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
