Honorable Andrew S. Murr, Chair, House Committee on Corrections
FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB2388 by Sherman, Sr. (Relating to providing inmates with certain documents on release or discharge; changing a fee.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code as it relates to the provision of licenses to certain offenders released or discharged from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). Under the provisions of the bill, the fee for a license would be $5. According to TDCJ, the Department of Public Safety, and the Department of State Health Services, the costs associated with the bill's provisions could be absorbed using existing resources.
This analysis assumes implementing the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant impact on state correctional populations or on the demand for state correctional resources.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
