IN RE:
HB2546 by Jetton (Relating to the enforcement by the secretary of state of certain voter roll maintenance provisions; creating a criminal offense.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
This bill would amend the Election Code to require the Secretary of State (SOS) to monitor court clerks and voter registrars for compliance with certain provisions relating to maintenance of a list of ineligible voters. The bill would also specify certain enforcement actions related to this monitoring activity. The bill would require the SOS to develop and implement a training course for court clerks and voter registrars regarding voter roll maintenance.
The SOS indicates the bill would impose additional costs within its Elections Division; however, the agency could absorb any such costs within available resources.
This analysis assumes the provisions of the bill addressing felony sanctions for criminal offenses would not result in a significant impact on state correctional agencies.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
