LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 12, 2021

TO:
Honorable Chris Turner, Chair, House Committee on Business & Industry

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2810 by Turner, Chris (Relating to the eligibility for unemployment benefits of individuals who are unemployed due to certain labor disputes.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

It is assumed that the costs associated with the bill's provisions relating to the eligibility for unemployment benefits of individuals who are unemployed due to certain labor disputes could be absorbed using existing resources.

Based on the Texas Workforce Commission's review of data from fiscal years 2017 through 2019, the number of claims that would be disqualified if the bill is enacted would have a minimal impact on the Unemployment Trust Fund Account.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
