HB3005 by Ramos (Relating to annulment of a marriage on the grounds of concealed divorce.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Family Code to provides that a court may grant an annulment of a marriage to a party if the other party was divorced from a third party within the 30-day period preceding the date of the marriage ceremony, at the time of the ceremony the petitioner did not know and a reasonably prudent person would not have known of the divorce, and the petitioner ceased cohabitation with the other party within a certain amount of time after discovery of the divorce and has not voluntarily cohabitated with the other party since ceasing the cohabitation.
Based on information provided by the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated as a result from implementing the provisions of the bill.
