No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code to add a current or former United States attorney, assistant United States attorney, federal public defender, deputy federal public defender, or assistant federal public defender to the list of public employees for whom rights of access to information are restricted. The bill would also add the spouse or child of the current or former US Attorney or public defender to another exception to the Public Information Act. The bill would also add federal public defenders, deputy federal public defenders, or assistant federal public defenders and the spouse and child of a public defender.to the list of persons whose property appraisal information is confidential under the Property Tax Code.
Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, the Office of the Attorney General, the Comptroller of Public Accounts, and the Department of Criminal Justice, it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the bill could be accomplished utilizing existing resources. In addition, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated with the implementation of the bill.
