IN RE:
SB495 by Kolkhorst (relating to certain rights of crime victims.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to expand the rights of crime victims within the criminal justice system. Under the provisions of the bill, crime victims would have the right to be informed of bail decisions and to request the attorney representing the state to adjust the amount of bail to ensure their safety or the safety of their family. The bill would make certain conditional rights mandatory by removing the requirement that a crime victim must first request those rights before those rights have to be acknowledged or granted.
Based on information provided by the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated as a result from implementing the provisions of the bill.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
