LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 26, 2021

TO:
Honorable Dan Patrick, Lieutenant Governor, Senate

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1109 by West (Relating to requiring public schools to provide instruction and materials and adopt policies relating to the prevention of child abuse, family violence, and dating violence.), As Passed 2nd House

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Among other provisions, the bill would require that students receive instruction on the prevention of child abuse, family violence, and dating violence.

This analysis assumes the bill's provisions could be implemented using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

According to the Texas Education Agency, there could be costs for local districts to implement the required instruction, including professional development training for teachers and developing or purchasing instructional materials and resources.
