Pursuant to a notice posted on June 1, 2022, the House Committee on Business & Industry met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Turner, Chris, at 10:11 a.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Turner, Chris; Hefner; Cain; Crockett; Patterson; and Shine.

 

A quorum was present.

The Chair made opening remarks.

 

The Committee met to consider the following interim charge:

 

Study the impact of organized retail crime on Texas businesses. Make recommendations for

addressing the redistribution of stolen merchandise into the supply chain, including through

online marketplaces, to protect Texas businesses and consumers. Make recommendations

relating to transparency for online marketplaces and information that should be provided by

sellers.

At 12:54 p.m., on the motion of Representative Turner, Chris and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
