Pursuant to a notice posted on April 28, 2021, and permission granted on May 3, 2021, to meet while the House was in session, the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Collier, at 4:45 p.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Collier; Cason; Cook; Hinojosa; Johnson, Ann; Murr; and Vasut.

 

A quorum was present.

 


 

The chair stated that when announcing the result of the vote on the motion to report HB 869 without amendments favorably, the chair mistakenly stated that the motion prevailed.  The chair further stated that the motion had failed because the motion did not receive an affirmative vote of a majority of the membership of the committee.  Without objection, the chair directed that the minutes for the April 29, 2021 formal meeting of the committee reflect the correct outcome of the vote on the motion to report HB 869.

 

The chair stated that when announcing the result of the vote on the motion to report HB 367 as substituted favorably, the chair mistakenly stated that the motion prevailed.  The chair further stated that the motion had failed because the motion did not receive an affirmative vote of a majority of the membership of the committee.  Without objection, the chair directed that the minutes for the April 29, 2021 formal meeting of the committee reflect the correct outcome of the vote on the motion to report HB 367.
