Pursuant to a notice posted on May 17, 2021, the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Collier, at 2:46 p.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Collier; Cason; Cook; Hinojosa; Johnson, Ann; Murr; and Vasut.

 

A quorum was present.

 


 

Representative Vasut moved to reconsider the vote by which SB 768 failed to be reported from committee.  The motion to reconsider prevailed without objection.

The chair laid out SB 768.

 

Representative Vasut moved that SB 768, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                           Representatives Collier; Cook; Johnson, Ann; Murr; Vasut (5).

 

Nays:                           Representatives Cason; Hinojosa (2).

 

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).

 

Absent:                        Representatives Bell, Keith; Crockett (2).

 

SB 568

 

The chair laid out SB 568 as pending business.

 

Representative Johnson, Ann offered a complete committee substitute.

 

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

 

Representative Johnson, Ann moved that SB 568, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion failed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                           Representatives Collier; Cason; Johnson, Ann; Vasut (4).

 

Nays:                           Representatives Cook; Hinojosa; Murr (3).

 

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).
