Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 7, 2021, the House Committee on Public Education met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Dutton, at 1:58 p.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Dutton; Lozano; Allen; Allison; Bell, Keith; Bernal; Buckley; González, Mary; Huberty; King, Ken; Meza; Talarico; and VanDeaver.

SB 1267

 

The chair laid out SB 1267, the companion to HB 3804.

 

Representative King, Ken offered a complete committee substitute.

 

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

 

Representative King, Ken moved that SB 1267, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                           Representatives Dutton; Lozano; Allen; Allison; Bell, Keith; Bernal; Buckley; González, Mary; Huberty; King, Ken; Meza; Talarico; VanDeaver (13).

SB 1365

 

The chair laid out SB 1365, that failed to be reported on May 7, 2021.

 

Representative Bell, Keith offered an amendment to the measure.

 

The amendment was adopted without objection.

 

The chair moved that SB 1365, with amendment(s), be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                           Representatives Dutton; Allison; Bell, Keith; Buckley; Huberty; King, Ken; VanDeaver (7).

 

Nays:                           Representatives Allen; Bernal; González, Mary; Meza; Talarico (5).
