Pursuant to a notice posted on October 4, 2021, and permission granted on October 4, 2021, to meet while the House was in session, the House Committee on State Affairs met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Paddie, at 10:03 a.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Paddie; Hernandez; Harless; Howard; King, Phil; Metcalf; Shaheen; and Slawson.

 

 

A quorum was present.

The chair laid out SB 5.

 

The chair recognized Representative Patterson to explain SB 5.

 

Testimony taken/registration recorded.  (See attached witness list.)

 

The chair recognized Representative Patterson to close on SB 5.

 

The chair moved that SB 5, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                           Representatives Paddie; Hernandez; Harless; Howard; King, Phil; Metcalf; Shaheen (7).

 

Nays:                           Representative Slawson (1).

 

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).

 

Absent:                        Representatives Deshotel; Hunter; Lucio III; Raymond; Smithee (5).
