R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
  passing of Karon Kaye Tinsley Goolsby of Katy on June 19, 2023, at
  the age of 73; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Ruston, Louisiana, on April 3, 1950, to
  Harold and Sarah Tinsley, the former Kaye Tinsley grew up in
  Arcadia, Louisiana, with the companionship of two siblings, Renee
  and Harold; she graduated from Arcadia High School before earning a
  degree in business administration from Louisiana Tech University,
  where she met her future husband, Gary Goolsby; the pair exchanged
  wedding vows on April 26, 1975, and spent more than 45 years of
  their married life in Katy; they shared in the joy of raising a son,
  Greg, and were further blessed with two grandchildren, Preston and
  Avery; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Goolsby immersed herself in civic life and
  became an enthusiastic supporter of the Katy Independent School
  District and other local organizations; she served on the boards of
  the Memorial Parkway Community Association and the Kelliwood
  Women's Association, along with numerous other boards and
  committees; she also contributed to her congregation at the First
  United Methodist Church of Katy in a variety of capacities,
  including as the first female lay leader in the church's 100-year
  history; and
         WHEREAS, A staunch supporter of the Republican Party,
  Mrs. Goolsby held leadership positions with the Mason Creek
  Republican Women, the West Houston Republican Women, the Republican
  Women's Club of Katy, and the Greater Katy Area Republicans, as well
  as with the Texas Federation of Republican Women; she was highly
  respected for her work in behalf of major political campaigns, and
  she served as a delegate to many Republican state conventions; and
         WHEREAS, Although Kaye Goolsby is deeply missed by those she
  left behind, they will forever remember her steadfast dedication to
  her family, her faith, her community, and her ideals; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
  Karon Kaye Tinsley Goolsby and extend deepest sympathy to all those
  who mourn her passing; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Kaye
  Goolsby.
