CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, Colton Coates received a Judge Pat Baskin Family |
|
Volunteer of the Year Award at the Beacon Awards Luncheon on |
|
September 26, 2023; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Beacon Awards honor excellence in Permian Basin |
|
nonprofit organizations by recognizing volunteers and staff of the |
|
local nonprofit sector; the Judge Pat Baskin Family Volunteer of |
|
the Year Award is presented annually to both an adult and youth |
|
volunteer in the Midland County community; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Coates is a senior at Ignite Christian Academy, |
|
and he has served as a Midland Teen Court attorney since his |
|
freshman year; in the course of his work with the program, he has |
|
helped mentor fellow court attorneys, and he has gained valuable |
|
knowledge of the judicial system; this outstanding young Texan has |
|
further distinguished himself by assisting children with special |
|
needs as a swim instructor at COM Aquatics, and he has taken part in |
|
a mission trip to Swaziland and South Africa, where he volunteered |
|
his time at an orphanage; moreover, he is vice president of the |
|
National Home School Honor Society; and |
|
WHEREAS, Inspiring others through his exemplary civic |
|
engagement, Colton Coates has made a lasting, positive difference |
|
in his community, and he is indeed deserving of this most recent |
|
honor; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas, |
|
3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Colton Coates on his |
|
receipt of a Judge Pat Baskin Family Volunteer of the Year Award and |
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Coates as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives and Senate. |
