R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of Ramiro Humberto Gamboa Sr. of Corpus Christi on July 6, |
|
2023, at the age of 73; and |
|
WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Gambi," Ramiro Gamboa was |
|
born in Laredo on July 20, 1949, to Dolores and Antonietta Gamboa, |
|
and he grew up with the companionship of four siblings, Javier, |
|
Gerardo, Juanita, and Antonia; he graduated from Martin High School |
|
in 1968 and subsequently began studies at Mercy Hospital to become |
|
an X-ray technician, earning his credentials in 1969; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Gamboa enjoyed a lengthy career as a surgical |
|
radiology technician at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus |
|
Christi-Shoreline that spanned nearly five decades; a highly |
|
regarded and passionate champion for civil rights and the education |
|
of the Latino community, he gave generously of his time and talents |
|
to the League of United Latin American Citizens Council No. 1; he |
|
first became involved with the organization in the 1970s, and over |
|
the years, he worked tirelessly to defend the rights of Hispanic |
|
Americans, joining forces with a number of city, state, and |
|
national elected officials and community leaders in order to create |
|
social and economic change; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Gamboa enjoyed the love |
|
and support of his wife of 54 years, Guadalupe; he was the devoted |
|
father of four children, Ramiro, Jessica, Gabriel, and Christopher, |
|
and with the passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his family |
|
grow to include nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; |
|
his life was further enriched by his beloved dog, Miguel; and |
|
WHEREAS, While the death of Ramiro Gamboa brings immeasurable |
|
sorrow to his family and friends, he leaves behind a legacy that |
|
will long be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of |
|
Ramiro Humberto Gamboa Sr. and extend sincere condolences to his |
|
loved ones; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ramiro |
|
Gamboa. |
