R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Anagha Deepak, a junior at Round Rock High School, |
|
|
has distinguished herself through her participation in the 2023 |
|
|
United States Youth Ambassadors Program in Ecuador; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau |
|
|
of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Youth Ambassadors Program |
|
|
brings together high school students and adult mentors from across |
|
|
the western hemisphere to promote mutual understanding, increase |
|
|
leadership skills, and foster a strong sense of civic |
|
|
responsibility through in-person and virtual exchange programs; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, One of only 18 students selected to visit Ecuador |
|
|
among thousands of applicants, Anagha Deepak was chosen based on |
|
|
her exemplary record of service and leadership, as well as her |
|
|
foreign language and critical thinking skills; as a youth |
|
|
ambassador in Ecuador, she engaged in various workshops and was |
|
|
actively involved in a number of community service initiatives, |
|
|
such as volunteering at a local school and planting a tree in Cumbe; |
|
|
she also immersed herself in the country's cultural practices and |
|
|
met with personnel at the U.S. Consulate in Guayaquil in order to |
|
|
present her ideas on multicultural areas that can help advance the |
|
|
long-standing relationship between the U.S. and Ecuador; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For the final phase of her journey as a youth |
|
|
ambassador, Ms. Deepak is undertaking a project benefiting the |
|
|
Greater Austin community this fall; in recognition of her many |
|
|
achievements, she has accrued numerous accolades and awards, |
|
|
including the President's Volunteer Service Gold Award, |
|
|
Congressional Award Bronze and Silver Medals, and a Mayor's Special |
|
|
Recognition Award from Round Rock mayor Craig Morgan; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Anagha Deepak has demonstrated remarkable drive and |
|
|
initiative in working toward her goals, and she may indeed reflect |
|
|
with pride on her accomplishments as she looks forward to a future |
|
|
bright with promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Anagha Deepak for |
|
|
her participation in the 2023 U.S. Youth Ambassadors Program in |
|
|
Ecuador and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Deepak as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
