R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
  a close with the passing of U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major (Ret.)
  Lloyd Coley of Belton on August 28, 2023, at the age of 69; and
         WHEREAS, The son of William E. Coley Sr. and Laura Lee Coley,
  Lloyd Coley was born in Richmond, Virginia, on June 19, 1954; he
  grew up with the companionship of eight siblings, Barbara, Essie,
  William, Spencer, Sylvia, Gwendolyn, Sheila, and Lavette; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Coley enlisted in the United States Army in July
  1972, and his distinguished military career ultimately spanned
  three decades; he rose to the rank of command sergeant major and was
  awarded the Legion of Merit in recognition of his exemplary service
  to his nation; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Coley enjoyed the love and
  support of his wife, Brenda, with whom he shared a rewarding
  marriage of 47 years; he was the devoted father of two children,
  Ebonie and Justin, and he also experienced the joy of welcoming two
  grandchildren into his family; a man of faith who was guided by a
  strong moral compass, he attended Cornerstone Baptist Church, where
  he was ordained as a deacon and was unanimously selected to serve as
  deacon chairman; and
         WHEREAS, Although Lloyd Coley is deeply missed, memories of
  his integrity, his strength of character, and his devotion to his
  family and his country remain to comfort and inspire those he leaves
  behind; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
  U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major (Ret.) Lloyd Coley and extend
  deepest condolences to the members of his family: to his wife,
  Brenda Coley; to his daughter, Ebonie Bain, and her husband, Nigel;
  to his son, Justin "Jay" Coley, and his wife, Kristy; to his
  grandsons, Justin and Jason; to his brothers, William E. Coley Jr.
  and his wife, Brenda, and Spencer Coley and his wife, Patricia; to
  his sisters, Sylvia Coley, Gwendolyn Coley, Sheila Green and her
  husband, Irvin, and Lavette Branch; and to his other relatives and
  many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lloyd
  Coley.
