R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Officer Ronald Cronin of the Dallas Police |
|
Department demonstrated exceptional courage in the line of duty on |
|
July 25, 2022, when he risked his life to apprehend an armed suspect |
|
at Dallas Love Field Airport; and |
|
WHEREAS, A 15-year veteran of the department, Officer Cronin |
|
was assigned to surveil the ticketing area at the airport, which was |
|
occupied by more than 100 people that morning; at around 11 a.m., he |
|
observed a woman causing a disturbance at one of the ticketing |
|
counters; just as Officer Cronin was using his radio to request |
|
backup, the suspect pulled out a handgun and began firing rounds |
|
into the air; and |
|
WHEREAS, After taking cover, Officer Cronin witnessed the |
|
suspect continue to fire her weapon into the air, placing airport |
|
patrons in danger; acting without hesitation, he discharged his |
|
weapon at the suspect, immobilizing her and preventing the incident |
|
from escalating; he then rendered emergency aid to the wounded |
|
suspect, who survived and was taken into custody, as other officers |
|
arrived to secure the scene; and |
|
WHEREAS, Officer Ronald Cronin distinguished himself through |
|
his efforts to bring a dangerous suspect to justice, and he is |
|
indeed deserving of recognition for his tremendous bravery and his |
|
unwavering resolve to keep his community safe; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Officer Ronald |
|
Cronin for his heroic actions in apprehending an armed suspect on |
|
July 25, 2022, and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Officer Cronin as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
