R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
  a close with the passing of the Reverend Guadalupe Fonseca of San
  Antonio on October 18, 2023, at the age of 91; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Celso and Nemesia Fonseca, Guadalupe
  Fonseca was born in El Paso on July 10, 1932; he answered the call to
  the ministry and became the pastor of Iglesia Sur Zarzamora Baptist
  Church; over the course of 45 years, he led the congregation in
  worship and provided spiritual guidance and consolation, and he
  distributed tracts weekly to offer hope to those in need; and
         WHEREAS, Reverend Fonseca shared 74 years of marriage with
  his wife, Isabel Fonseca; he took great pride in his children,
  Thomas, Edward, Freddie, Dolores, Susan, and Monica, and through
  the years, his treasured family grew to include 16 grandchildren
  and 15 great-grandchildren; he was preceded in death by his son,
  Thomas, granddaughter Monnette Vierya, and son-in-law Rudy
  Martinez; and
         WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to his faith and his family,
  Guadalupe Fonseca earned the lasting respect and admiration of all
  who were privileged to know him, and they will forever cherish their
  memories of his warmth, kindness, and wonderful sense of humor;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
  the Reverend Guadalupe Fonseca and extend sincere condolences to
  the members of his family: to his wife, Isabel Fonseca; to his
  children, Edward Fonseca and his wife, Frenchy, Freddie Fonseca and
  his wife, Rosie, Dolores Martinez, Susan Martinez and her husband,
  Tommy, and Monica Garcia and her husband, Albert; to his
  daughter-in-law, Irma Fonseca; to his grandchildren and
  great-grandchildren; and to his many other relatives and friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Guadalupe
  Fonseca.
