R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Alejandra Llanos of McAllen was named the 2023
  National Youth of the Year by Boys & Girls Clubs of America; and
         WHEREAS, The most prestigious honor conferred by Boys & Girls
  Clubs of America, the National Youth of the Year award recognizes
  young citizens for their leadership, service, academic
  achievement, and commitment to leading a healthy lifestyle; to be
  selected for the accolade, a club member must first be recognized at
  the local, state, and regional levels; and
         WHEREAS, A member of Boys & Girls Clubs of McAllen,
  Ms. Llanos represented Texas and the Southwest Region; her
  involvement in the Youth of the Year program has included serving as
  a spokesperson for children and teenagers in her community; as part
  of that effort, she has met with legislators and advocated in behalf
  of her peers at the State Capitol; in addition, she gained valuable
  experience through her work as a Boys & Girls Clubs junior staff
  member; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Llanos is a graduate of Nikki Rowe High School,
  where she was a member of Business Professionals of America and the
  debate club and competed in the University Interscholastic League
  Accounting Contest; she also served on the student council, and she
  further distinguished herself as class treasurer and student body
  president; she is currently studying accounting at The University
  of Texas at Austin, and she plans to pursue a career in public
  policy; and
         WHEREAS, Alejandra Llanos has demonstrated commendable
  drive, discipline, and maturity in working toward her goals, and
  she may indeed take great pride in this noteworthy recognition as
  she looks ahead to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Alejandra
  Llanos on being named the 2023 National Youth of the Year by Boys &
  Girls Clubs of America and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Llanos as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
