R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Lou Hooks Wagner, an admired educator and a valued
  member of the Mineola community, passed away on September 13, 2022,
  at the age of 83; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Kathleen Russell Hooks and Robert
  Thomas Hooks Jr., the former Lou Hooks was born in Dallas on October
  6, 1938; after graduating from Baylor University, she went on to
  complete a master's degree at East Texas State University; she
  married Kenneth Wagner and they became the proud parents of two
  children, Robert and Robin; through the years, her treasured family
  grew to include four grandchildren, Lacy, Molly, Mitchell, and
  Lane, as well as three great-grandchildren, Declan, Rowan, and
  Quinn; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Wagner was employed for many years by her alma
  mater, Mineola High School; a caring mentor and role model, she
  taught distributive education and served as the chief financial
  officer for the Mineola Independent School District before her
  retirement in 1996; she was recognized as Teacher of the Year and as
  Outstanding Alumnus, among other honors; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to the betterment of Mineola, Mrs. Wagner
  served as a member of the city council; during her noteworthy tenure
  on the board of the philanthropic Meredith Foundation, she served
  as secretary-treasurer and became its first female chair; she was
  an enthusiastic supporter of the business community, historic
  preservation, tourism, and the arts; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Wagner was a member of First Baptist Church in
  Mineola and of the CU chapter of P.E.O.; in her free time, she
  enjoyed bowling and playing golf, tennis, and bridge; and
         WHEREAS, Although Lou Wagner is deeply missed by her family
  and friends, her contributions to her community remain a lasting
  source of inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know her;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 3rd
  Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Lou Hooks Wagner
  and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn her passing; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Lou Hooks Wagner.
