R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
  passing of Mary Adele Oden of Kilgore on August 21, 2023, at the age
  of 83; and
         WHEREAS, Mary Oden was born to Earnest and Yvonne Stoufflet
  Eaves on February 7, 1940, in Houma, Louisiana, and she was raised
  on her family's dairy farm in Greenwood, Louisiana, with her
  brother, Earnest; an alumna of Louisiana Tech University, she later
  returned to school, earning a bachelor's degree in biology from The
  University of Texas at Tyler and a graduate degree in physics and
  biology from Stephen F. Austin State University; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Oden enjoyed a 22-year career as a medical
  technician and went on to work as a science teacher in Kilgore for
  nearly two and a half decades; active in her community, she served
  as a director of the Cross Roads Special Utility District, and she
  was a hospice volunteer and a Sunday school teacher; and
         WHEREAS, Valuing family above all else, Ms. Oden shared a
  rewarding marriage with her husband, Donnie Oden, that spanned 44
  years before his passing; she took great pride in their two
  children, Vonn and Matt, and through the years, she was further
  blessed with two grandchildren, Ryan and Madison, and a
  great-grandson, Cole; in her leisure hours, she enjoyed collecting
  coins and stamps, and some of her favorite memories were of her
  trips to Europe with her daughter; and
         WHEREAS, Although she is deeply missed, the passage of time
  will never diminish the joy and love that Mary Oden brought into the
  lives of all who knew her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 3rd
  Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Mary Adele Oden
  and extend heartfelt sympathy to her family and friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Mary Oden.
