David Sanders |
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of David Leslie Sanders of Tyler in 2023; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The son of Nell Wylinda King and Harold E. |
|
Sanders, Dave Sanders was born on October 2, 1932, and grew up |
|
with three siblings, Joe, Bob, and Mildred; he joined the U.S. |
|
Army in 1953 and served in the Korean War and in a number of |
|
European countries before his honorable discharge in 1955; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Sanders was employed by Texas Instruments for |
|
32 years as a mechanical engineer, and he played a key role in the |
|
development and design of radar-missile systems for the |
|
Department of Defense; following his retirement, he worked for |
|
the Science Place in Dallas, building and maintaining its |
|
exhibits; he used his free time to tinker on various projects in |
|
his garage; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, On March 21, 1969, Mr. Sanders married the |
|
former Cynthia Sue Printz; the couple enjoyed spending summer |
|
months in Cody, Wyoming, working as teachers at a national |
|
wildlife park; through the years, their treasured family grew |
|
to include four more generations, and they shared a fulfilling |
|
relationship until her passing in 2019; he was also preceded in |
|
death by two grandchildren, Austin Gabriel Easley and April |
|
Danielle Easley; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Sanders was fortunate enough to find love |
|
again with Mary Jane Howard; they visited Caddo Lake every |
|
weekend and spent countless happy hours on the back porch |
|
drinking coffee and admiring the view; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, Mr. Sanders was an |
|
active volunteer for numerous organizations, including Meals on |
|
Wheels, the Children's Medical Hospital of Dallas, and the Cancer |
|
Ward for Children; he also liked to make walking canes for local |
|
veterans; a man of faith, he was a valued member of Pollard |
|
Methodist Church; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Although Dave Sanders is greatly missed, he has |
|
left his family and friends with a host of cherished memories, |
|
and he will forever hold a special place in their hearts; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life |
|
of David Leslie Sanders and extend sincere condolences to the |
|
members of his family: to his children, Robbin Durgin, Terry |
|
Highland, Denise and David Langford, and Scott Holand and his |
|
wife, Amy; to his dearest companion, Mary Jane Howard; to his |
|
eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and |
|
great-great-grandchild; and to his other relatives and many |
|
friends; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
|
this day, it do so in memory of Dave Sanders. |
