R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, CentroMed, a nonprofit community health center in |
|
San Antonio, is celebrating 50 years of service to the community on |
|
November 10, 2023; and |
|
WHEREAS, Incorporated as El Centro del Barrio in November |
|
1973, CentroMed provides medical, dental, and behavioral health |
|
services to families residing in San Antonio, New Braunfels, |
|
Schertz, Cibolo, Somerset, Windcrest, and Converse; its flagship |
|
clinic, the South Park Medical Care Clinic, opened in 1981, and its |
|
locations have since grown to include clinics throughout the San |
|
Antonio area that specialize in family medicine, pediatrics, and |
|
dental care; CentroMed is known for providing quality, affordable |
|
health care to low-income individuals and families, 92 percent of |
|
whom earn less than 150 percent of the U.S. federal poverty level; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Today, CentroMed operates under the leadership of |
|
its president and chief executive officer, Dr. Ernesto Gomez, who |
|
is recognized for his vision and commitment to improving the health |
|
and well-being of the community; during the 2022 fiscal year, |
|
CentroMed served more than 120,000 patients and received nearly |
|
400,000 office visits; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the past five decades, CentroMed has |
|
contributed immeasurably to the health and quality of life of |
|
countless San Antonio area residents, and it is a pleasure to join |
|
in commemorating this significant milestone and in recognizing all |
|
those who have supported CentroMed throughout its existence; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 3rd |
|
Called Session, hereby honor CentroMed on the occasion of its 50th |
|
anniversary and extend to its board members, physicians, |
|
clinicians, dentists, counselors, leadership, and support staff |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success with their important |
|
work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for CentroMed as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
Senate. |
