CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, John Billingsley of Dallas is receiving a |
|
Distinguished Alumni Award from the Texas Tech Alumni Association |
|
on November 17, 2023; and |
|
WHEREAS, Each year, the Texas Tech Alumni Association honors |
|
graduates of Texas Tech University who have made a significant |
|
impact on the lives of others through their professional |
|
achievements and community involvement; and |
|
WHEREAS, John Billingsley earned his bachelor's degree in |
|
business administration from Texas Tech in 1961, and before the age |
|
of 25, he founded an accounting firm that became one of the largest |
|
independently owned CPA firms in the state; in 1976, he purchased |
|
Western State Bank of Midland, and over the six years he served as |
|
its president and board chair, deposits increased from $10 million |
|
to $150 million; he has also been successful in real estate |
|
development; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 2009, Mr. Billingsley founded Tri Global Energy, |
|
LLC, and under his able leadership as chair and CEO, the company |
|
grew to become one of the largest wind developers in the United |
|
States; he sold the business in September 2022; he founded and |
|
currently serves as the chair and CEO of JBB Advanced Technologies, |
|
which focuses on the development of advanced technology solutions |
|
for a more sustainable future; he has been recognized at the state |
|
and national levels for his contributions to the renewable energy |
|
industry; and |
|
WHEREAS, The accomplishments of noteworthy alumni are a |
|
source of great pride to all those associated with Texas Tech, and |
|
John Billingsley is indeed deserving of this prestigious honor; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas, |
|
4th Called Session, hereby congratulate John Billingsley on being |
|
named a Distinguished Alumni by the Texas Tech Alumni Association |
|
and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Billingsley as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives and Senate. |
