R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The city of Edinburg has been named the Most |
|
|
Affordable College Town in the United States by WalletHub; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In compiling its ratings of the Best College Towns |
|
|
and Cities in America, WalletHub conducted an extensive analysis of |
|
|
415 cities with college or university populations exceeding 7,500 |
|
|
students; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, WalletHub's evaluators considered a number of |
|
|
factors critical to students and residents alike, among them |
|
|
housing costs, monthly fitness club fees, and the average prices of |
|
|
pizza, burgers, movies, and bowling; the cost of higher education |
|
|
also played a pivotal role in determining the final rankings; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The city of Edinburg has worked with The University |
|
|
of Texas Rio Grande Valley to foster a vibrant community where |
|
|
Texans can readily access a top-notch higher education and enjoy a |
|
|
high quality of life without incurring a heavy financial burden, |
|
|
and this accolade is a tribute to the strength of their |
|
|
collaboration; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate the city of |
|
|
Edinburg on being named the Most Affordable College Town in the |
|
|
United States by WalletHub and extend to city officials and staff |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the city as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
