R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Amalia S. Rivera, a valued member of the La Grulla
  community and a friend to many, passed away on November 6, 2023, at
  the age of 94; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Ramon Solis and Lucia Cantu, the
  former Amalia Solis was born in La Grulla on August 9, 1929; she and
  her husband, Reynaldo L. Rivera, were blessed with eight daughters,
  Azucena, Rebecca, Albesa, Hilda, Amalia, Susanna, Sylvina, and
  Rosalinda, and a son, Reynaldo; eventually, their treasured family
  grew to include numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and
  great-great-grandchildren; the devoted couple shared a fulfilling
  relationship of 68 years until Mr. Rivera's passing in 2014;
  Mrs. Rivera was also preceded in death by two of her daughters,
  Azucena and Rebecca; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Rivera was widely known for making the best
  raspas in town; in her neighborhood store, she exhibited a vast
  array of memorabilia that she and her husband had collected, among
  them two giant statues of Our Lady of Guadalupe and pictures of John
  F. Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln, Selena, Michael Jackson, Pancho Villa,
  and other famous people; residents enjoyed visiting an
  establishment that rivaled a small, quaint museum with its displays
  of everything from Dallas Cowboys merchandise to Coca-Cola bottles
  and promotional glasses that the Riveras had purchased at
  McDonald's restaurants across the country during their time as
  migrant workers; and
         WHEREAS, A beloved matriarch and an esteemed business owner,
  Amalia Rivera brightened the days of innumerable people, and
  although she will be deeply missed by those she left behind, she
  will forever hold a special place in their hearts; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
  Amalia S. Rivera and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her
  family: to her daughters, Albesa R. Parras and her husband, Modesto,
  Hilda R. Elizondo and her husband, Alberto, Amalia R. Treviño and
  her husband, Humberto, Susanna R. Treviño and her husband, Jorge,
  Sylvina Rivera, and Rosalinda Rivera and her husband, Adolfo; to her
  son, Reynaldo Rivera Jr.; to her grandchildren,
  great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and to her
  other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Amalia S.
  Rivera.
