R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The volleyball team from Grand Oaks High School in
  Spring capped an exceptional year by winning the 6A championship at
  the 2023 University Interscholastic League Volleyball State
  Tournament; and
         WHEREAS, After losing only one regular-season match and
  claiming the district title, the Grizzlies surged through the
  playoffs, besting Houston Nimitz, Langham Creek, Bridgeland,
  Sachse, and Tomball Memorial High Schools to punch their ticket to
  the state tournament in Garland; demonstrating great resolve after
  falling behind 2-0 in the semifinals against Prosper, Grand Oaks
  roared back to claim the next three games for a thrilling five-set
  victory; and
         WHEREAS, On November 18, Grand Oaks battled Cinco Ranch High
  School of Katy for the 6A crown; dominating at the net and from the
  service line, the Grizzlies staged key rallies to sweep their
  opponent in straight sets, 25-22, 25-23, 25-13; with the victory,
  Grand Oaks brought home the first state title in program history and
  closed out the 2023 campaign with a remarkable 50-1 record; and
         WHEREAS, Grand Oaks was led by Halle Thompson, the Most
  Valuable Player of the title match, who was joined on the 6A
  All-Tournament Team by Jaela Auguste and Samara Coleman; the
  Grizzlies also received valuable contributions throughout the
  season from the other members of the roster: Samantha Sampson,
  Audrey Terry, Kalin Wardell, Caelyn Emmerling, Kenzie Padgett,
  Jayla Davis, A'talia Kelly, Carly Johnson, Cali Reece, Jonaida
  Donowa, Hailey Lotspeich, Brookelynn Anderson, Brooklynn Sheridan,
  and Julia Flessas; these talented student-athletes were ably guided
  by head coach Morgan Rogers and assistant coaches Jason Clair,
  Shaun Anderson, and Madison Hardgrave; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
  culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
  commitment to excellence, and the Grand Oaks Grizzlies will
  treasure the memory of this accomplishment for the rest of their
  lives; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate the Grand Oaks
  High School volleyball team on winning the 2023 UIL 6A state
  championship and extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere
  best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
