R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Timberwolf Marching Band of Cedar Park High |
|
School continued its proud tradition of excellence by claiming the |
|
5A state championship at the 2023 University Interscholastic League |
|
State Open Class Marching Band Contest, held November 7 at the |
|
Alamodome in San Antonio; and |
|
WHEREAS, Joining the other top competitors from across the |
|
Lone Star State, the Cedar Park High band members impressed the |
|
panel of judges, achieving a total score of 14 to take home the |
|
coveted Class 5A championship; and |
|
WHEREAS, The victory marked the sixth state title for the |
|
Timberwolves since 2011; moreover, the Cedar Park ensemble has also |
|
excelled in numerous other competitions through the years, and |
|
during the fall of 2023, it turned in strong performances at the |
|
Bands of America Austin Regional and San Antonio Super Regional |
|
contests; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Timberwolf Marching Band includes more than 220 |
|
wind players, percussionists, and color guard members; these |
|
talented and determined performers benefit from the leadership of |
|
Cedar Park High School's director of bands, Christopher Yee, |
|
associate directors Kendall Santos and Jeremiah Armstrong, and |
|
director of percussion, Roland Chavez; and |
|
WHEREAS, The members of the Cedar Park High School Timberwolf |
|
Marching Band have distinguished themselves through their skill and |
|
dedication, and their recognition as one of the best marching bands |
|
in Texas is a source of tremendous pride to their school and their |
|
community; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate the Cedar Park |
|
High School Timberwolf Marching Band on winning the 5A state |
|
championship at the 2023 UIL State Open Class Marching Band Contest |
|
and that all those involved with the ensemble be extended sincere |
|
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
