R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Endurance horseback rider Kim Moquin of Spring |
|
achieved great distinction with her impressive showing in the Tevis |
|
Cup Ride, which took place on July 29 and 30, 2023; and |
|
WHEREAS, Held annually since 1955, the Tevis Cup Ride is |
|
considered the most challenging endurance horse race in the world; |
|
the competition consists of a rugged 100-mile course from Lake |
|
Tahoe to Auburn, California; each rider who completes the route |
|
within the 24-hour limit, and whose mount is judged "fit to |
|
continue," receives a silver buckle; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Moquin competed in an international field that |
|
included riders from Australia, Canada, England, Israel, Poland, |
|
South Africa, and the United States; exhibiting a high level of |
|
horsemanship and perseverance, she placed seventh aboard Okbas |
|
Finale, her 16-year-old Arabian gelding; and |
|
WHEREAS, With her outstanding performance in the Tevis Cup |
|
Ride, Kim Moquin has proudly represented the State of Texas, and it |
|
is a pleasure to join in recognizing her for her accomplishments; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby congratulate Kim Moquin on |
|
placing seventh in the 2023 Tevis Cup Ride and extend to her sincere |
|
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Moquin as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
