R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The United States of America is a world leader that |
|
other nations look to for guidance, leadership, and example; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives believes that all |
|
human life is precious, and the targeting of civilians, no matter |
|
their faith or ethnicity, is a violation of international |
|
humanitarian law; and |
|
WHEREAS, War anywhere causes destruction and human |
|
casualties; but the unintended consequence of the current |
|
Israel-Hamas conflict has been the deaths of innocent civilians; |
|
there have been reports of over 15,000 Palestinians and 1,200 |
|
Israelis, most of whom were newborns, children, women, and the |
|
frail and elderly, causing a humanitarian crisis of epic |
|
proportions; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby supports the preservation |
|
of life and encourages the United States Congress and the President |
|
of the United States to continue to facilitate negotiations to end |
|
the conflict between Israel and Palestine so their citizens can |
|
live peacefully; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That the Chief Clerk of the House forward official |
|
copies of this resolution to the President of the United States, to |
|
the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of |
|
Representatives of the United States Congress, and to all the |
|
members of the Texas delegation to congress with the request that |
|
this resolution be entered in the Congressional Record as a |
|
memorial to the Congress of the United States of America. |
