Joseph Claude Martin III |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
commemorates the life of Joseph Claude Martin III, who died on |
|
October 29, 2023, at the age of 82; and |
|
WHEREAS, Joe Martin III was born on May 3, 1941; a |
|
descendent of some of the oldest families in South Texas, Joe was |
|
raised in Laredo; his family was deeply rooted in the economic |
|
life of the region, especially in ranching, commerce, and |
|
politics, and he would go on to continue this legacy; and |
|
WHEREAS, After completing his education, Joe began working |
|
in the insurance business and in real estate development in |
|
Laredo; he also became involved in ranching, construction, and |
|
oil and gas exploration, and he found great success and |
|
fulfillment in his various professional pursuits; and |
|
WHEREAS, Blessed with remarkable leadership abilities, Mr. |
|
Martin served on a number of professional boards and |
|
organizations, including as a trustee of the Bruni Mineral Trust; |
|
following in his father's and grandfather's footsteps, he also |
|
served as a co-trustee of the Lamar Bruni Vergara Trust and as a |
|
board member of the Laredo National Bank; and |
|
WHEREAS, A highly esteemed member of his community, Joe |
|
forged many lasting friendships throughout his life; he took |
|
great pleasure in wing shooting and in traveling, and he enjoyed |
|
serving his fellow citizens through his civic endeavors; and |
|
WHEREAS, Joe was a devoted father to his four children, |
|
Michelle, Melissa, Joseph, and Albert; he was a loving |
|
grandfather to his six grandchildren and to his two |
|
great-grandchildren, and his life was immeasurably enriched |
|
through his relationship with his cherished partner, Rita K. |
|
Peters; and |
|
WHEREAS, Joe was a man of strength, wisdom, and |
|
determination, and his compassion, his generous spirit, and his |
|
dedication to serving others were evident to all who knew him; he |
|
leaves behind precious memories that will be forever treasured by |
|
his family and friends and by all who were privileged to share in |
|
his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby extend sincere |
|
condolences to the bereaved family of Joseph Claude Martin III; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Joe Martin III. |
